Lattice structures under uniaxial impact loads: An experimental study

چکیده
Innovative additive manufacturing processes open new design opportunities, in the field of periodic cellular shock absorbers. In this work, an experimental campaign on lattice samples has been developed and carried out for intermediate velocities. The geometries used tests are result a sensitivity analysis conducted previous work. As complement to results provided by numerical model analysis, highlighted aspect capital importance: geometry maximizing energy absorption is highly dependent applied strain. Furthermore, local buckling effects, induced primarily at sample’s surfaces contact with support testing machine, induce stiffness decrease specific geometries, thus reducing absorbed energy. This study emphasises importance selection, tailor mechanical responses.

TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF STRUCTURES UNDER TRANSIENT LOADS
In this article, an efficient methodology is presented to optimize the topology of structural systems under transient loads. Equivalent static loads concept is used to deal with transient loads and to solve an alternate quasi-static optimization problem. The maximum strain energy of the structure under the transient load during the loading interval is used as objective function. The objective f...
متن کاملOPTIMAL DESIGN OF COLUMNS FOR AN INTERMEDIATE MOMENT FRAME UNDER UNIAXIAL MOMENT AND AXIAL LOADS
The present study addresses optimal design of reinforced concrete (RC) columns based on equivalent equations considering deformability regulations of ACI318-14 under axial force and uniaxial bending moment. This study contrary to common approaches working with trial and error approach in design, at first presents an exact solution for intensity of longitudinal reinforcement in column section by...
متن کاملstudy on pullout behavior of uniaxial hdpe geogrids under monotonic and cyclic loads
abstract: this paper presents the results of pullout tests on uniaxial geogrid embedded in silica sand under monotonic and cyclic pullout forces. the new testing device as a recently developed automated pullout test device for soil-geogrid strength and deformation behavior investigation is capable of applying load/displacement controlled monotonic/cyclic forces at different rates/frequencies an...
متن کاملComputer Modelling of Cellular Structures under Uniaxial Loading
For structures with uniform cell size, wall thickness, and shape, the fundamental question arises whether the same volume of cell wall material has the same effect when arranged as many small cells or as fewer large cells. A combination of finite element modelling (FEM) and experimental work was conducted to investigate the effect of the number of cells for a fixed volume of nonlinear hyperelas...
متن کاملRaman spectroscopy study of lattice vibration and crystallographic orientation of monolayer MoS2 under uniaxial strain.
The false-color (3D type) image of the intensity of the Raman spectra of monolayer MoS2 versus both peak positions and polar angles is plotted. It shows that the strongest E2g (1+) and E2g (1-) peaks appear at different angles, reflected as the alternation of the maxima of the intensity within the frequency range of the E2g (1) mode, which is the consequence of the crystallographic orientation ...
